Balloon Safety & Handling Guidelines
Last updated: 23rd January 2026
Balloons bring instant joy to any celebration — but they also need a little care and attention. These friendly guidelines will help you enjoy your balloons safely and keep the party vibes going strong.
General Balloon Safety
Balloons are fun, colourful, and festive — but they’re not toys. Please keep the following in mind:
- Always supervise young children around balloons.
- Uninflated or burst balloons can be a choking hazard — dispose of them immediately.
- Keep balloons away from pets (they love to chew things they shouldn’t).
Latex Balloons
Latex balloons are classic party favourites, but they do come with a few considerations:
- Latex can cause allergic reactions in some people — please check before use.
- Store latex balloons in a cool, dry place to keep them in perfect condition.
- Avoid over‑inflating — they’re enthusiastic, but they do have limits.
Foil Balloons
Foil balloons are shiny, fabulous, and long‑lasting — but they need responsible handling:
- Foil balloons conduct electricity. Keep them away from power lines and electrical sources.
- Always secure foil balloons with a weight to prevent accidental release.
- Never release foil balloons outdoors — it’s unsafe and can cause power outages.
Helium Safety
Helium makes balloons float magically — but it must be used safely:
- Never inhale helium. It can be extremely dangerous.
- Keep helium cylinders upright and away from heat sources.
- Follow all manufacturer instructions when using helium tanks.
- Store cylinders securely and return them to the supplier if required.
Professional Inflation
Some balloons (especially larger or more delicate designs) may require professional inflation for best results. If you’re unsure:
- Contact a trained balloon decorator.
- Or reach out to us — we’re always happy to help point you in the right direction.
Environmentally Responsible Balloon Use
We love parties — and we love the planet too. Please:
- Never release balloons outdoors.
- Dispose of balloons responsibly after use.
- Consider biodegradable options where possible.
